Seller's Description & Comments I had to gently peel the mildewed pages apart in the 1964 June Edition Driver's Manual for the Porsche 356C we had just taken in. Looking through the old owner's manuals, the Chilton's Porsche Manuel and the Porsche's Technical manual bring me so much closer to the car. The internet has convoluted information from this almost 60 year old car. Can you imagine an owner's manual of today starting off with - Ignition Timing or giving you a transmission diagram or instructions on how to replace your own tail light? It was such a joy to be able to work on my own car. Even a Porsche was simpler than the cars of today. Page 1 of the Driver's Manual reads : "Judging you by the car you own, you rank high among discriminating motorists . You are probably no freshman when it comes to automobiles. Nevertheless , we ask you to read and carefully follow the instructions which have been specially prepared to ensure a successful partnership between you and your car. If the necessity arises that your car be serviced other than at an authorized Porsche dealer, have this manual handy and you will be your own best chief mechanic. Looking through the receipts and the information in regards to repairs, I can see that the owner took very good care of this car and it was " his pride and joy". March 31st ,1981 was when the car was first registered in Maryland with the owner. He drove it regularly and registered it every year for over 46 years after he purchased it in California in 1977. The last Maryland registration expired on February 28th, 2023. Now sitting on Bavarian Motorsports showroom, the faded Polaroid photos show a very happy man next to his newly restored 356. Other Polaroids show before and after of the repaint and new red leather interior , both matching the original . Having been stored in a small shed the last couple years, this Porsche suffers a major paint spill stain to the bonnet and a can dent to the roof. But, the brakes work fine as well as the steering. There appears to be no major rust . The red leather interior and matching red carpet is in fair condition. This 356C coupe shows 17,658 miles on the 5 digit odometer,but it must be 117,658 miles. Regardless, due to the age, the mileage is exempt. We have not attempted yet to start, but the engine does turn. We welcome trades and can arrange financing.
